Last week was launch week at Aten, with two brand new redesigns hitting the interwebs. Both were for product manufacturers. Both were built in Drupal. Both companies sweat the details. In just about every other way, the two websites couldn't have been more different. Introducing RichardsonCap.com and ZimmermanMarine.com.
Sports Apparel Manufacturer Gives its Users Powerful New Ways of Interacting with its Products
Portland-based Richardson Sports is a leader in the team headwear industry, and approached Aten in early 2009 to help re-imagine ways to connect users with the quality, attention to detail, and staggering availability of options in its extensive line of customizable headwear. As of last week, Richardson customers can fully customize Richardson caps using a product customization engine that features near photo-realistic representations of headwear, with options for changing nearly any option imaginable. Users can change styles, crown colors, visor colors, add custom artwork, add custom type, add stock artwork, and more. And, of course, the final product can be ordered directly from Richardson (as long as you're a dealer for the company).
Try it out. Design a cap at RichardsonCap.com.
High-end Custom Cruisers + High-touch Service for Boats of All Kinds
Zimmerman Marine, a client for more than 7 years, is a Virginia-based boatyard that builds custom cruisers (check out the Z31, Z38, and Z46 ) and provides service for boats of all kinds. Steve Zimmerman, boatyard owner and president, began sharing his vision with us for the redesigned zimmermanmarine.com in late 2009. The new website needed to position Zimmerman Marine as a company that services "all types of boats for one kind of customer," from both of its two locations. This strong message is prevalent throughout the website. Additionally, the site focuses on customer testimonials, features incredible boat photography, and provides a blog where Steve gives voice to his boat building and service company.
"The folks at Aten came through once again," said Steve, adding, "I love Drupal, it is very empowering to be able to modify the site on our own."
