Module: Rename Modules
What does it do?
Nodes, Context, Taxonomy, Modules- Drupal parlance is rich with words that have a very particular meaning. Terms such as node and module oftentimes carry much different connotations and definitions with them to a client and can thus be a bit confusing. A request I will get as a sitebuilder is to clean up the "Drupally language" for content authors and site admins. For some users, it makes more sense to reword the language used in Drupal than to expect a person to learn to speak Drupal.
Rename Modules makes it easy to do this with one of the most common terms used in Drupal- module. On the Rename Modules configuration page enter the word you would like to replace "Module" with and the term will be replaced by your more appropriate term. You have the choice of replacing just the menu item instance of module, all instances of "module" in administrative pages, or both.
Then, voilà, you are now working with "extensions" rather than "modules." Note that this change is purely cosmetic. The functioning of modules is not affected and any paths using /modules/ still persist as before.
