Why does Drupal need Composer?

In 2016, with the release of Drupal 8, the community was introduced to Composer: a new tool that quickly became a requirement for professional Drupal developers. Over time, while many have learned to utilize Composer in a Drupal context, it is not always clear as to why Composer is so important to Drupal (especially to developers new to Drupal and Composer). 

In this presentation, Michael Anello from DrupalEasy, will walk through the intimidating problem that Composer solves as well as take a close look at the community's recommended Composer template for starting Drupal projects. The presentation will include a short slide presentation, real time demonstrations, and time for questions.
