Announcing the new DataLab tool by Performance Monitoring for Action

Data visualizations for family planning research

Performance Monitoring for Action (PMA) is a program directed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Jhpiego (website). PMA conducts research on the ground in nine countries, collecting data on a range of family planning and reproductive health topics. PMA’s data is open-source and made available for researchers, decision makers, policy-makers, and the media.

Today, PMA is making their research data available with the launch of the new PMA DataLab tool — datalab.pmadata.org.

DataLab was built in partnership with Aten Design Group (aten.io), the design and technology agency behind the award-winning Commonwealth Fund Data Center and the Guttmacher Institute Data Center.

Using open-source technologies, PMA's DataLab tool has been completely reimagined with the user in mind. Re-architected around human-centered design principles, a simple user interface lets users quickly and easily craft powerful data visualizations, share with colleagues, and use actionable data from PMA’s research to inform continued research, program planning, and policy-making.

PMA is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

We would love to share more about this project with you! aten.io/meet
